Chapter 1 — Getting Started: Lab Environment & Tools

This chapter helps you set up the lab environment and learn the basics of two tools you will use throughout the course:

• Logisim Evolution (digital logic design and simulation)
• Ripes (visual RISC-V processor and program execution simulator)

After finishing this chapter, you should be able to:

• Install and configure Logisim Evolution and Ripes correctly.
• Build and simulate a simple digital circuit in Logisim Evolution.
• Run and inspect a simple RISC-V program in Ripes.
